In collaboration with GeneService in the UK, DNAFORM offers the Gallus gallus ESTs collection from the BBSRC established in collaboration with the Universities of Nottingham, Dundee and UMIST. From 64 cDNA libraries generated from 21 different embryonic and adult tissues 339,314 EST reads were obtained, and 64,760 gene-bins were assembled into 85,486 contiguous sequences (contigs). For each tissue, BBSRC constructed one standard and at least two normalised libraries. The only exception to this is the adult adipose tissue, for which normalisation failed completely. The project was funded by the BBSRC, and Incyte Genomics Inc performed EST sequencing. All tissues were taken from the White Leghorn (Layer) breed (Gallus domesticus). The Adult Cerebrum, Adult Cerebellum and Adult Brain Other Parts tissues were from the White Leghorn IAH strain of RPL Line 15I. All embryonic tissues were from the White Leghorn 'Hisex' breed. The remaining adult tissues (except muscle, chondrocyte, ovary, pancreas and adipose) originate from White Leghorn Line 15 hens. The majority of the clones are in pBluescript II KS+ (Stratagene) in DH10B or DH10B-T1 resistant bacteria. EST sequences have been produced from the 5’ end of each clone. FormatDNAFORM offers these clones individually with no limits on the numbers that may be ordered. For supply of clones in other formats (e.g. whole plates) please contact us under: dna@dnaform.jp.
